Did you know that Evernote allows you to share notebooks? I already have a notebook built for my Paucis Verbis Cards, so that I can access them on my iPhone in the ED on the go. I thought I would share with you, in case you also use Evernote. That way whenever I post a new PV card, your Evernote account should also get my updates.

- From your laptop/desktop, go to this URL link: http://www.evernote.com/pub/michelleclin/paucisverbis
- On the upper right corner of the screen (red arrow), click on the tiny link "Link to My Account"
Don't use Evernote? You might think about trying it out. It's free. Here's my first introduction to Evernote.

Hi Michelle,
ReplyDeleteI've been having Evernote on the edge of my IT radar for some time, not quite seeing the need of trying it since I believe all it's features (and even more) are in Google docs which I use intensively. Since I've seen you mention Google docs also, what's your opinion... am I totally wrong here?
Michelle,
ReplyDeleteShared notebooks on Evernote are not viewable outside of the web application. Have you thought about using dropbox? Shared documents in dropbox are viewable in iPhone and Android apps.
Hi Michelle,
ReplyDeleteWorked perfectly! Thank you so much for doing this. I am an Evernote subscriber as I find I use it enough (daily) to justify it but also just to support the development and continuation of a really useful service. I would recommend it to anyone (since it's free, you've got nothing to lose!)
Hi everyone: Wow, thanks for the great comments. I started using Evernote before Dropbox and so feel more comfortable with it. I also use Evernote more on my iphone than the Evernote website or desktop app.
ReplyDelete1. Searchability:: I like the searchability feature of the tags and text. It also searches the text within each note, even though it's in PDF! Furthermore, if you hit the "favorites" button, the note gets stored on your iPhone for offline working. This is helpful since 3G access in our ED is extremely poor. I believe Dropbox can do this but not Google Docs.
2.Ability to edit: I can edit documents opened in Evernote (eg. to-do list). I don't think Dropbox can do this on the iPhone.
3. Graphic Interface: I find Evernote more navigatible and readable than Google Docs on the iPhone.
4. Geo-location feature: For the iPhone, this is this nice feature. Useful when I travel and take photos.
@David - I think Google Docs works just as well. For me, it's just that I've gotten used to Evernote.
@Nerd_Alert - Thanks for the tip about the shared folders not working on the mobile devices. Bummer. I will work on building the same thing for Dropbox soon as well. Good tip.
@Jim: Thanks for the feedback. I too use Evernote almost daily.
I use Google Docs; if I'm reading a PDF online, and I use the Google Doc PDF Viewer plugin for Chrome, with 1 click it's autosaved to my account.
ReplyDeleteThat, or Dropbox. I could never get into Evernote.
THANKS SO MUCH!
ReplyDeleteI'm generally not an all-caps writer, but YOU'RE WELCOME!
